Don’t sell – just talk! [Book Events Series]

I don’t like churning out a sales pitch. I don’t want to feel like I’m pushing someone into buying something they’re not sure if they want, or something they just can’t justify spending money on at the time.

What I can do, though, is talk and listen. I can talk about my books, how I got started, why I’m keeping on going, and what’s so exciting about being a writer – especially an indie writer. I can listen to other people’s ideas about their own stories, what they’ve got planned, and what’s drawn them to my books.

Or just chat about the weather.

Once I’ve taken the pressure off myself about ‘I must sellย x number of books’, I can just enjoy conversation with people and build connections. Sometimes they buy, sometimes they don’t – but they at least walk away having built a new connection, and you don’t feel like you’ve been a pushy salesperson ๐Ÿ™‚
